NEETA LULLA RECREATES FLIRTY ERA OF 20’S AND 30’S AT THE BLENDERS PRIDE FASHION TOUR 2013– GRAND FINALE

Neeta Lulla’s collection at the grand finale of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour can be described by three words – coquettish, enticing and enigmatic. The fashionistas of the 20s and 30s took center stage in the collection, as attitude and attire both call back the glamour of the past merging pleasingly with the present. Kalki Koechlin dazzled as she walked down the ramp as Neeta Lulla’s showstopper.

Neeta Lulla brings forth the flirtiest and sensuous aspect of our culture and that is the Sari. The outfits in her collection have drawn their inspiration from the Sari but have retained their playfulness from the yesteryears. Pastel shades, vintage hues, nudes, indigo blue, oyster pink, and greens bring out ones complexion and yet are muted enough to show ones personality.  Uneven cuts, cylinder-shaped outlines and draping, vaguely and with a shimmering quality, creates a contour that tempts as much as when it is on exhibition as when it is enveloped.

The enchanting attribute of that period and lifestyle is aptly secured through the use of embellishment; the amusement, the romanticism and especially the sparkle shines through the tasselling employed generously which incidentally is also the strongest accent in this collection. The glitzy influence is apparent while a muted vintage colour palette makes for a perfect backdrop. While the sheer, peek-a-boo quality retains the boldness accredited to that era, the silhouettes accentuate a certain sensuous femininity that is not only glamor.

Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2013 commenced in Chandigarh on September 28th and will conclude on November 24th in Mumbai, an exciting 60 day journey. From Chandigarh to Mumbai, 6 cities played host to the work of 10 masters of the craft, and their spectacular creations, at what is acknowledged as the benchmark for the Indian fashion calendar.
