Whistling Woods Student gets Amitabh Bachchan Media Scholarship
Producer Anand Pandit who instituted the Scholarship expresses happiness over the success of the gran
For the third year running the prestigious Amitabh Bachchan Media Scholarship instituted by producer Anand Pandit was awarded to Samagata Banerjee, a deserving film student from film institute Whistling Woods. The Amitabh Bachchan Media Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded to students of cinema and media after an exhaustive selection process.
‘Three years ago when Anand Bhai suggested this scholarship as an initiative to push students of cinema to strive for excellence, I was quite delighted and humbled to be a part of it. I hope this scholarship helps talented individuals pursue their love for cinema,’ said Amitabh Bachchan.
‘When I instituted the Amitabh Bachchan Media Scholarship three years ago it was meant to be a small contribution to help film students pursue their cinematic dreams. And what better way than being awarded by the biggest icon of Bollywood – Shri Amitabh Bachchan ji,’ said filmmaker Anand Pandit.
The annual scholarship is awarded to the student who shows promise and creativity.
‘We have chosen this year’s winner Samagata Banerjee after an exhaustive process where we look at several criteria and in due consultation with Mr Bachchan and Mr Pandit,’ said Subhash Ghai
The Amitabh Bachchan Media Scholarship includes a trophy, a cheque of Rs 5 lakh as well as a certificate. The award was handed over to this year’s winner Samagata Banerjee from the Whistling Woods Institute.
