Team of award-winning Marathi movie Yellow come to Whistling Woods International for Master Class

As a part of their Master Class, Whistling Woods International invited the makers of the movie for a special session with the students on April 23 to explain them their journey while making this award winning movie. The team included Mrinalini Kulkarni – Actress, Mahesh Limaye – Director  & Director of Photography, Ambar Hadap – Co-writer, and Jayant Jathar – Editor. The entire team interacted with th students and gave them a perspective on making meaningful cinema which is commercially viable

In the wake of the Indian Film Industry gradually making more meaningful movies and using the medium of cinema to carry important social messages, WWI continuously encourages its students towards making socially responsible films.Therefore, in their weekly film forum on April 22, Whistling Woods International showcased the recent Marathi movie Yellow (2014) directed by Mahesh Limaye and produced by Riteish Deshmukh and Uttung Thakur. The story explores a mother-daughter relationship and displays developmental disability and behaviour of a child. The directorial debut film is based on a true story of Gauri Gadgil, a special needs child, who also plays herself in the film. The film was released on 4 April 2014 to critical acclaim. This is Riteish Deshmukh’s second movie as a producer after Balak-Palak (2013).
