Star World Celebrates Two years of The Front Row with Anupama Chopra

Star World to air 2nd Anniversary special on 2nd May 2014

The Front Row with Anupama Chopra launched on Star World two years ago with the intention to create an  entertainment destination for movie lovers.  Star World and Anupama Chopra’s vision led to the inception of a show where viewers  who love cinema could engage in conversations  and share their opinions on the latest releases from both Hollywood and Bollywood. Anupama over the course of two years,  has had the fine distinction of interviewing some of the most respected and popular actors and film-makers in Bollywood across multiple genres. The show’s format includes movie reviews followed by a candid exchange with her guests from the film fraternity.

Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Kareena Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan are just some of the impressive guests from Bollywood who have appeared on the show. Anupama’s conversations with impressive Hollywood icons like Martin Scorsese, Marion Cotillard, Sharon Stone, Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, Emma Stone, Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman have also been featured on The Front Row.

The popularity of the show stems from Anupama’s self-styled approach to reviewing movies. Anupama Chopra while reviewing a movie factors in various parameters for instance the plot, the characters, camera work, technique and direction however her underlying validation above all has been on the basis of whether a film has fulfilled the promise it made to its viewers. Anupama while certain of her reviews does admit that the audience is welcome to their opinion and has always favored feedback on her show. As a reviewer, she loves to read movie reviews by other critics and compares it watching a movie with a friend. You may not agree with your friend’s opinion but you can still have an interesting, engaging combative relationship and discuss the movie.

On this occasion Anupama Chopra said, “As a critic, I admire Anthony Lane at the New Yorker, Manohla Dargis at the New York Times and A O Scott at the New York Times. It is an education for me just to read them and I am inspired by their erudition and sheer brilliance. The Front Row is a space to celebrate movies and given our viewers response, we feel we are happy to know that they look up to The Front Row for our reviews. We’ve had so many exciting guests and such interesting conversations. We want to pave the way forward with  more ideas and fulfill ambitions on the show. We are exploring additions to our content and would love to introduce Master classes wherein there are Bollywood centric discussion and conversations with popular Directors of the fraternity.”

The Front Row has also covered Film Festivals and Film Awards shows on Star World including the Cannes International Film Festival, Marrakech International Film festival, Toronto international Film Festival, The 85th Academy Awards and Jameson Empire Awards 2013.
