Five Power Women Walk The Ramp For ONE Foundation’s Set Beautiful Free !
ONE Foundation (Oberoi Nation Building and Empowerment) run by Vivek Oberoi and his wife Priyanka Alva Oberoi announced a new initiative ‘Set Beautiful Free’ in association with Bombay Team Challenge (BTC) at Trident Hotel, Nariman Point on August 29 .
On the occasion it was announced that the initiative aims to provide a secure home , education,food and healthcare to the daughters of sex workers ,giving them a new lease of life away from the world of prostitution.The center will entirely look after their general well being, education,vocational skills ,career guidance and other aspects that go into making these young one’s well rounded individuals, that can stand on their own feet.
The show befitting the theme ‘Set Beautiful Free’, celebrated five successful women achievers from different strata of society ,who walked the ramp with the rescued daughters of trafficked women.
The successful women achievers including Neeta Ambani ( philantropist, educationist and icon) , Madhuri Dixit Nene (Bollywood actor), Mary Kom (boxer and Olympic medalist), Shikha Sharma (MD & CEO of Axis Bank) and Yashodhara Oberoi (philantropist and counselor ) walked the ramp in signature Maheka Mirpuri creations.
Said Madhuri Dixit ,” To bring about a change we need to be the change.Every girl has a dream and so do these girls but they have no way to fulfill them or guidance to acheive them.I congratulate Vivek Oberoi and Amruta Fadnavis for all the work they are doing towards helping these girls acheive their dreams”.
Added Mary Kom, “As a girl and as a mother I feel strongly for this cause and I promise to support ONE Foundation in this initiative and take it ahead”.
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the girls also tied rakhis to Chief Patrons of the event – Devendra Fadnavis and Ranbir Kapoor along with Vivek Oberoi and other political dignitaries. This was followed by the CM’s wife Amruta Fadnavis singing a special song dedicated to the girl child.
Said Ranbir Kapoor,” I would like to congratulate everyone who has put this together. It is truly inspiring and I urge people to empower these girls.”
Talking about the show, said Vivek Oberoi, “I’m extremely thankful to people who supported me in making ONE’s event ‘Set Beautiful Free’ a success and extending their support in our mission to make the world a better place to live in. My aim is to get maximum public support and spread awareness of the appalling conditions in which so many Indian children in rural societies live. I truly believe that together we can make a real difference to the lives of these young girls”.
