Bittu Sahgal Environmentalist says “Animals know how to look after the Earth”

Singapore International School was host to the regional ‘Young Round Square Conference’ advocating the theme CODE Green: The Power of One to make a difference. The zeal of the young participating delegates aged 9 years to 13 years, spanning 21 different schools from across India including one from Oman and another from Bangladesh; was palpable. As suggestive of the theme delegates deliberated on environmental issues and came up with a conference mission statement.

The delegates had the good fortune of listening to some eminent activists of the likes of Diya Mirza, activist and actor, Irrfan Khan, actor, Mayur Shah, Sunjoy Monga, Atul Sathe, Pravin Shetty and other environmentalists.

The closing ceremony was graced by the noted environmentalist and writer, Mr. Bittu Sahgal who was also one of the key note speakers. With his invigorating discussions on how best nature can be preserved, the young audience was effortlessly bestirred into sending him a volley of questions which reflected their deep concern for nature. Sahgal’s “everything works in a mesh “, “tigers can breed like rabbits if given open space”, “ animals know how to look after the earth” “ if you do not protect what you love, you will lose what you love” reverberated creating a hypnotic effect on all those gathered to witness the culmination of the conference.
