YEH HAI BAKRAPUR: Humble Beginnings
Yeh Hai Bakrapur is an upcoming Bollywood movie about a family and their pet goat, Shahrukh, who acquires a celebrity status in his village, with people eventually fighting over him. Set against the rural political background of a village, the movie has been making waves since the release of its trailer, crossing a million views within just two weeks, receiving words of praise, galore.
The response received by the trailer has humbled the filmmakers, whose hard work has paid off. Yeh Hai Bakrapur was shot in a remote village, not on sets, in order to make it look realistic. Shooting in the area, the cast and crew were not able to enjoy facilities which a city would provide. There were no vanity vans for the actors, so they used to be seated out in the open, under a tent.
The people of the village extended a warm welcome to them, making home cooked food and treating the Yeh Hai Bakrapur team like one of their own. During the film’s shoot, the cast and crew were like a close knit family, always interacting with villagers. In fact, Yoshika Verma, who plays a crucial role in the film, used to go to a hut nearby and get her hair braided by the girl living there. Actor Anshuman Jha used to call for his food from a nearby Dhaba, but he, too, used to frequently give in to the temptation of gorging on the food made by the villagers.
Yeh hai Bakrapur promises to take viewers through a rib-tickling, roller coaster journey of twists and turns. Written and directed by Janaki Vishwanathan, known for her National Award winning film, Kutty in Tamil, and produced by Ramesh Sriivatsava Aruunachalam, Yeh Hai Bakrapur is slated for release on 25th April.
