Buddy, Tiny and Midnight shared space with Tito, Tony and Thunderstorm, while PC, Timepass and Snowbell looked on with happiness. And why not! For the city’s first pet park opened its doors to them.
Thanks to the efforts of Meenakshi Thakur, a member of Ashoka Road Residents’ Association (AARA), aided by Lajo Shahani, a movement to create a park for pets took root. And with the help of BMC and the pet lovers of Yari Road, a dumpyard became a haven for pets.
Director Ananth Mahadevan, who is the proud dad of the cockerspaniel Buddo, “trees and saplings were planted, people donated benches and the whole thing snowballed to become a reality. It was very heartening.”
Mahadevan is all praises for Meenakshi Thakur. The inauguration saw Jackie Shroff, Gul Panag, Murli Sharma, Gary Richardson, Ananth Mahadevan, Kunika Lall and a host of other celebs in attendance.
Says Meenakshi Thakur, “I am very touched by the turnout. I am so happy for the pets. I would like this to be a beginning of a happy journey for our pets who enrich our lives so much.”
