UTV STARS ‘Walk of the Stars’ Felicitates Veteran Actor Shashi Kapoor
Shashi Kapoor’s hand impression tile unveiled by son Kunal Kapoor, to be installed at the Walk of the Stars at Bandra Promenade
To honor the legendary Shashi Kapoor, UTV STARS unveiled the veteran actor’s hand impression on a tile at an event on Saturday, November 9. The tile was unveiled at Prithvi Theatre by Kunal Kapoor, in the presence of his father, superstar, Shashi Kapoor. The tile will be installed at UTV STARS premium property, WALK OF THE STARS, at the Bandra Bandstand Promenade.
“We are extremely humbled and touched with this gesture by UTV STARS. This hand print symbolizes his contribution to the Indian film industry and it’s an honour for me to be able to launch my father’s tile in his presence. He’s been one of the most popular star of his time and will be remembered that way,” said Kunal Kapoor after unveiling the tile dedicated to his father by UTV Star’s Walk of the Stars.

The celebrated superstar’s hand prints will be joining the rest of the Kapoor clan at the UTV STARS Walk of the Stars at the Bandra – Bandstand Promenade. Tiles bearing the hand prints of Prithiviraj Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor have been installed at the Bandra Bandstand Promenade, Mumbai along with brass statues of the legendary actors Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. The Walk saw the launch of Rajesh Khanna’s statue earlier this year and witnessed Yash Chopra and Dev Anand’s statues the year before. UTV STARS Walk of the Stars is open to public on all days, free of cost.
An evergreen star from blockbuster films like Deewar, Kabhie Kabhie, Namak Halaal, Kaala Patthar, Shashi Kapoor has given the Indian film fraternity some great films. The youngest of the three Kapoor brothers, Shashi Kapoor began acting in plays directed by his father, the luminary Prithviraj Kapoor, since the age of 4. He first appeared on the silver screen as a child artist in the early 1940s. He first worked as an assistant director before getting his first break and since then, Shashi Kapoor has starred in numerous Hindi movies as well as a few English language films. He has been conferred with numerous National Film awards, Filmfare Awards as well as Lifetime Achievement awards for his contribution to Indian cinema.
