“Aande Londe…”is a ravishing folk number, which has Kavalam written all over it…It is sungin the lilting voice of Remya Nambeesan, a popular South Indian actress, whomakes an impressive singing debut and tops the pop charts withease. Portraying the sensuous allure of a rustic songstress, theactress Anumol weaves her magic on the screen, leaving the poet transfixed withher charm. This is also a viewer’s delight, where the bewitching chemistrybetween the actors and the lyrical brilliance of Kavalam transport usto ecstasy…The rich and unique animations are an icing on the cake.
“Nishasurabhi…” This one moves our heart with that patented ONV touch… Thehelplessness of Saraswati Amma, as she watches the poet moving away from herlife, is eloquently captured by Rajeev’s camera. Shwetha Mohan’s voicemakes us feel the fragrance of an unrequited love, as it silently wastes itselfin the stillness of the night… and suddenly, we are in tears.
“Anuragini…”is another great rendering from Yesudas in his ageless voice.. ONV embellishesthe Poet’s predicament of forgetfulness with allusions to classical imagery…This theme song captures the inner grandeur of a seemingly wasted life, as thepoet journeys through the many women in his life, in search of that elusivemuse… Prakash Bare breathes life into the mannerisms of the great poet.
“Marimayan…”is a lovers’ peppy tête-à-tête andhas Kavalam’s theater in it… Mridula’s amazing voice overlays playfully overKrishnachandran’s comeback rendition. Rajeev’s camera moves unobtrusivelyalong this ‘cycle song’, to bring in a burst of greenery that invades oursenses…However, the song will be etched forever in our minds, thanks toPadmapriya’s histrionic excellence, as she teasingly plays up to an engagingPrakash Bare.
“Innalenjanoru mulla nattu…” is a lullaby sung with erotic undertones… Thedebutante singer Sunita Nedungadi captures the suggestive mood in her voice, asit is picturised on herself in the Film. This is believed to be a folk songcollected by the Poet, Mahakavi P Kunhiraman Nair himself…
The film Ivan megharoopan is conceived as theeventful life journey of poet laureate KP Madhavan Nair, a character inspired by the life and worksof one of the most popular and prolific poets of Malayalam – Mahakavi PKunhiraman Nair. His poetic leanings were ondisplay at a young age, when he took to his wandering ways to satiate anintense inner hunger in search of his muse – his poetic deity. The passionateintensity with which he offers his experiences to his poetic deity ofteninsulates the poet from the mundane realities of the practical world. Even whenthe world of literature honors him with tributes and awards, the poet is stuckin his nether world in an unending quest for his poetic deity. The filmexamines the intricate weave of his relationships with the many women in his life, thereby exposing his disarming simplicity, which in a way serves as anexplanation to his seemingly bohemian odyssey.
