UNIVERSAL MUSIC BRINGS YOU ‘EK DIN’ – THE SOULFUL AND POIGNANT NEW STUDIO ALBUM FROM KAVITA SETH
Universal Music India today launched acclaimed Sufi singer Kavita Seth’s new album ‘Ek Din’. Since her breakthrough hit “Iktara” from the film ‘Wake up Sid’ to her most recent hit and probably the song of 2012 – “Tum Hi Ho Bandhu” from the film ‘Cocktail’, Kavita Seth is now ready to take you on a soulful journey of poetry with the release of latest studio album ‘Ek Din’.
Known for her melodic voice, Kavita was discovered by Director Satish Kaushik during a performance at the Muzzafar Ali’s International Sufi Concert where she got her first big break at playback singing in his film ‘Vaada’ where she sang the song “Maula”. This effectively established Kavita in the industry and since then there’s been no looking back. She also received great critical acclaim for the song “Mujhe Mat Roko” in Anurag Basu’s `Gangster’, which was her foray onto the Big Screen.
Her latest album ‘Ek Din’ illuminates the beauty of Sufi poetry and contains 9 songs, all written by Jagadish Prakash. Each song is characterized by its own depth, identity and genre. The title ‘Ek Din’ emphasizes the importance of each day, highlighting the fact that while we all live our life in days, weeks and years, if we delve a little deep, we can see that we actually live our lives one day at a time.
Kavita Seth says, “EK DIN is a very personal album not just for me, but I guess for all the music lovers who love poetry & soulful music. While she has a prolific singing career, Kavita Seth is also an accomplished composer and has recorded over 8000 Sufi songs in her lifetime, although not all of them have been released. Her last album, Sufiana, features an eclectic collection of Rumi’s poetry fashioned into melodies that illustrate the core of Sufism while still retaining the contemporary styles of modern music.
