Konkana Sen Sharma wins the Best Director award for A Death In The Gunj

New York, NYIFF 2017 (New York Indian Film Festival) awards ‘’Hotel Salvation as the best film and Konkona Sen Sharma as best director for her directorial debut for the film ‘A Death In The Gunj’.Both films represented internationally by C International Sales, have gained a lot of coverage and traction across all international film festivals and these two awards are testimony to their brilliance.

A Death In The Gunj, starring KalkiKoechlin and Vikrant Massey, and directed by actor Konkana Sen Sharma, is a coming of age story, about a shy student Shyamal Chatterjee. He uses a family road trip to McCluskiegunj, an old Anglo-Indian town, as an escape from his failed semester. The film is produced by Udta Punjab director Abhishek Chaubey and also stars RanvirShorey, Neeraja fame actor Jim Sarbh and GulshanDevaiah in pivotal roles. The film making its way to international film festivals, was premiered at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF 2016) and Busan International Film Festival.

Hotel Salvation, featuring Adil Hussain, LalitBehl, GeetanjaliKulkarni and Palomi Ghosh is ShubhashishBhutiani’s first directorial film. In the film, Rajiv, played by Adil Hussain is faced with his father’s bizarre demand to go and die in the holy city of Varanasi and attain Salvation. The film has won the CICT-UNESCO Award at the Venice Film Festival, and two National Film Award special mentions, for the film, as well as for actor Adil Hussain.The film has also travelled to the Busan International Film Festival, and  several other film festivals across the world.
