Speaking of the movie premiering across television screens this Valentine’s Day, lead actor Nimrat Kaur of The Lunchbox and Homeland series fame stated, “I’m extremely delighted that the movie will hit television screens soon with the knowledge that the movie can now be watched in the comfort of everyone’s home. Moreover, I feel that it is a perfect Valentine’s Day offering for viewers because of the storyline that is very bitter-sweet. It’s a love story between a married woman who is unhappy in her marriage and a widower who can’t feel any emotions. The tale of how an accidental lunchbox brings the two of them together over small handwritten notes and sweet moments is very heartwarming to watch.”
Revealing some of the behind-the-scenes moments, Nimrat said, “The kitchen where I was shooting most of the time was extremely crowded. There were these cameramen who had come from the United States and they would climb onto the kitchen platform and shoot. Because of this, we were all so cramped up in that little space that I would find it difficult to even move; I would move and a cutter would hit me and then I would accidently turn off the lights because my hands would hit the switch. But the funny part is that the suffocation and claustrophobia I had to face while shooting actually translated so beautifully on-screen while showcasing Ila’s claustrophobia in her marriage.”
She further added, “There was this one incident where I had to taste the dal that I was making. I decided that I would pour the entire dal myself and then taste so it seemed very natural but the dal was piping hot and I burnt my hand. Now because I had so enthusiastically told everyone on the set that I would do it myself, I couldn’t even go back on my word so I had to do it all over again and again. By the next day I was left with a hand that burnt real bad and in retrospect the realization that it was a very bad suggestion on my part.” Nimrat also stated that all the hand-written notes in the movie were all written by her.
