The Splendid Indian Closet Announces 2nd Edition Fashion Tour
The United States will be the domain for Indian Fashion again as designers and industry gear up for much anticipated shows as event extends from New York City (July 12th) to Los Angeles (July 18th)
NEW DELHI/NEW YORK June 12, 2014 – The Splendid Indian Closet (SIC) has the fashion industry in the United States gearing up for its 2nd Edition Fashion Tour. The much-anticipated shows will deliver the glitz, opulence and luxury of Indian fashion to New York City on Saturday, July 12, 2014 and to Los Angeles on Friday, July 18, 2014. NYC and LA can look forward to a South Asian fashion sensation that will give an experience to all the senses.

The Splendid Indian Closet is granting extended access to the famed fashion designers of India with two additional exclusive initiatives: ‘SIC Fashion Tour Trunk Show’ and ‘The Bridal Bazaar’. The trunk shows will be hosted around the city at various Indian couture stores by the designers and will give customers and industry the ability to make custom purchases.
‘The Bridal Bazaar’ will give brides all-access consultations with the designer of their choice to better understand how to blend their personal style with the creations of their desired designer. The exclusive online retail partner for the SIC Fashion Tour is Pernia’s Pop Up Shop (www.perniaspopupshop.com). The Trunk Show will be available online for purchase after the runway shows in New York City.
To commemorate the start of this year’s SIC Fashion Tour, a first preview for the Indian fashion industry and media was done in New Delhi on June 11, 2014 at the Taj Mahal Hotel to showcase the signature ensembles from each designer’s collection.
“We recognized the need for Indian haute couture in the United States. India is a fashion treasure trove with its art, heritage, textiles and costuming which inspires brilliant design talent. We look to curate this talent and have the best designers from India gain exposure in the West. In 2013, Splendid Indian Closet Fashion Tour was held in New York, Chicago and Dallas to showcase Indian couture, luxury fashion and prêt lines with two established Indian designers, Satya Paul and Joy Mitra. Actor, author, activist and Top Chef Canada host Lisa Ray unveiled her “Ray of Hope” line for veteran label Satya Paul.
Designer Joy Mitra stunned audiences with his Rituparno Ghosh-inspired “Chokher Bali” collection for whom Bollywood actor Soha Ali Khan walked the ramp as a showstopper.
