The Mumbai Art ADDA to celebrate Sixty years Of The Jehangir Art Gallery CONCEIVED BY ANUPA MEHTA 19th to 26th October 2012
Mumbai’s iconic art space, Jehangir Art Gallery has completed 60 years of existence. The gallery has created a platform for budding artists (and continues to do so). It has become, arguably, the most recognized visual icon of fine arts in the country. It has become a rite of passage for all artists.
The Jehangir Art Gallery presents The Mumbai Art Adda, conceived by Anupa Mehta which will be an open house format to discuss Art, Architecture, Theatre, Textiles and even Food as an Artform, from 19th to 26th October 2012
While the introductory address will be made by Sir Cowasji Jehangir, Committee Member, Jehangir Art Gallery, other speakers will include Mr Harsh Goenka and Ms Sangita Jindal. Shobhaa De will pay tribute to the Gallery as a Mumbaikar.
Each day will see interesting topics such as Public Space as Creative Hub with Anil Dharker and Abhay Sardesai on 19th October; Mumbai artists will paint a 1×1 tribute to Mumbai’s best known gallery at the Exhibition Hall on 20th October; A Discussion on the unique architectural elements of Jehangir Art Gallery that allow it an abiding place within Mumbai’s cultural landscape by Brinda Somaya, Shimul Kadri, Alfaz Miller and Mustansir Dalvi will be held on 22nd October;
Other interesting highlights include the Edible Art presentation on 23rd October by Chef Prodipto Das, from Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai and Arunkumar HG, 24th October will see Monologues by Rajit Kapur (Engilsh/ Hindi), Darshan Jariwalla (Gujarati);
Slide-talk by Madhu Jain on 25th October and finally Artistic Journeys: A HeART to HeART ,Inspirational talks by Akbar Padamsee, Anju Dodiya, Subodh Gupta ,hosted by Anupa Mehta on 26th October
