“The Lunchbox”: 2014’s Top Foreign Film at US Box Office
“The Lunchbox” has become 2014’s top foreign film at US Box-Office. Starring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film is produced by Guneet Monga, Anurag Kashyap and Arun Rangachari.
Guneet Monga, co-founder, Sikhya Entertainment and CEO, Anurag Kashyap Films Pvt. Ltd. has produced notable films like Gangs of Wasseypur-1&2 and Aiyyaa. Guneet’s first International film Kavi was nominated for 2012 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film and won the Student Academy Award for its Narration. She is known for her impeccable work and has made a significant impact on the film Industry.
The Hollywood Reporter called her the most prolific producer of a new wave of cinema. India Today credited her for giving a facelift to independent cinema, and bridging ‘the gap between Indian films and foreign buyers and distributors’. The Indian Film Festival at Los Angeles (IFFLA) has honoured her for the Sixth Annual Industry Leadership Award (ILA). She was also named as one of the top 12 women achievers in the Global Entertainment industry.
‘The Lunchbox’ received widespread critical acclaim and was a part of the International Critics’ Week at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The film has been a surprise Box-Office phenomenon in India and has also received immense appreciation overseas.
