FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The party hearties of tinsel town were seen having a gala time at the grand opening of the restaurant ‘The Golconda Bowl’ this Saturday at Hill Road, Bandra. Actors, writers, directors, advertising professionals and models thronged the restaurant which promises exotic Hyderabadi cuisine from the kitchens of the Nizams. A mesmerising qawwali performance by the renowned sufi group The Nizami Bandhu welcomed the guests at this do hosted by theatre actor and entrepreneur Gautam Chaddha and his lovely wife Sangeeta. The night saw the likes of renowned lyricist Prasoon Joshi, popular actors Sumeet and Chinmayee Raghavan, Ashwini Kalsekar and Murali Sharma, Ashiesh Roy and Haanssaa Singh, Anil Choudhary, Jhooma Mitra and Nivin Ramani, fashion photographer Jitu Savlani, award-winning writer/lyricist/actor Piyush Mishra, telly directors Arvind Babbal and Umesh Bisht, adman Gajraj Rao, and many others, letting their hair down. With the legendary Ustad Chand Nizam and Ustad Faridi Nizam at the helm of the mehfil, the guests were treated to fabulous qawwalis, as waiters served mouth watering Hyderabadi delicacies. Authentic silver and copperware were elegantly placed on every table and food was what everyone talked about. A lavish menu comprising the famous patthar ka gosht, infinite varieties of kebabs, haleem, delectable chicken and mutton biryanis, rounded off with mouth-melting dessert of moong dal ka halwa were relished by the guests. The night only got more fabulous, as post dinner, the Nizami Bandhus began singing requests by the guests. The crowd clapped and sang along with Hamein to loot liya… and Kun Faya Kun, well into the night. The Golconda Bowl is already a resounding hit in Delhi’s Hauz Khas Village, and has been nominated for the “Best New Restaurant Award” by Food & Nightlife.
