THE BIG MARATHI MUSIC AWARDS RETURNS WITH NEW SEASON
EMINENT JURY PANELISTS: VETERAN MUSICIAN PADMAJA FENANI, PLAYBACK SINGER SUDESH BHONSLE AND THE MULTIFACETED GURU THAKUR
AWARDS WITH NEW ADDITIONS IN CATEGORIES INCLUDING BEST VIOLINIST AND BEST MUSIC ARRANGER
Reliance Broadcast Network Limited’s intellectual property vertical BIG Live and its radio arm 92.7 BIG FM winner of the Golden Mikes’ Broadcaster of the Year, announced that the BIG Marathi Music Awards 2012, the most definitive recognition platform of the Marathi Music Industry, is all set to kick off its 2nd edition. BIG Marathi Music Awards provides a unified platform to recognize the indigenous musical talent and lend national recognition to some of the best Marathi music and musicians across genres. This year, BIG Marathi Music Awards has included new categories such as the Best Violinist and Best music Arranger, among a total of 17 categories.
The eminent jury panel for these awards include veteran musicians Padmaja Fenani, playback singer Sudesh Bhonsle and the multifaceted Marathi poet, lyricist, script writer, actor and playwright Guru Thakur.
Speaking on the occasion, BMMA jury member Sudesh Bhonsle said, “I am in awe and humbled by the responsibility that BMMA has bestowed upon me. I have always wanted to do my part for my Industry and encourage new talent and I cannot think of a better platform in India today, to do so. It is indeed a privilege to be a part of these prestigious awards.”
With an aim to salute and encourage different aspects of music production BMMA has decided to incorporate two new categories that are usually not part of many award functions. One of these is the Best Violinist category, though every instrument has its place in this industry the violin hold a very special position. The violin track in any movie is what gives a song its soul and feel, no film song will be what it is without the violin track. Violins are important in the background score as well where it help brings alive a particular scene in a movie.
The other category is that of the Best Music Arranger, whose primary role is to arrange music based on the needs or requirements of a performer, a group of performers, a conductor, or music director. It is the arranger’s responsibility to make sure that every aspect of a music piece is well harmonized, from the instruments down to the tempo. It is the music arranger who takes the work of the composer and arranges it into a score form for the ensemble to play.
