The Big Green Ganesha unveiled by actress Priyanka Upendra

Launched in 2006 by 92.7 BIG FM, the BIG Green Ganesha is an initiative aimed at creating social consciousness towards making one of India’s largest and most popular festivals better and more ecologically sound. In Karnataka, the initiative will help generate awareness in the cities of Bangalore, Mangalore and Mysore.

Drawing attention to the fact that most commonly available idols are created from non-degradable material and the paints used contain a high amount of toxins, BIG Green Ganesha has helped create understanding and gained steady momentum during the last four years by creating a sense of responsibility among communities and delivering significant value to its partners.

The Ganesha which was unveiled today was made out of 2000 kgs of newspapers and painted with eco-friendly colours.
