The anti-hero is back !
Making bad look oh so good,Vivek Oberoi is back in the grey zone ,essaying the character of the evil Kaal in the superhero franchise Krrish 3 ,for which the actor walked away with rave reviews for his sinister role, something that he has always pulled off with elan.
The actor made his Bollywood debut with Company ,boldly stepping into the shoes of “Chandu” , a character with negative streaks for which he swept away all the Best Debut awards that year.Vivek Oberoi also essayed the role of Maya Dolas in the superhit Shootout at Lokhandwala for which he bagged the award for Best Villian. The actor six years later returns to the space that has always proved lucky for him as Kaal (Krrish 3) ,an act that will remain with audiences much after the film’s release.
Vivek Oberoi was inundated with praise both from the Bollywood fraternity and critics alike –
Says trade guru Komal Nahta, “Vivek Oberoi spews venom with his villainy. He puts his heart and soul in the character of Kaal and shines. His entry scene is excellent and will be met with applause”.
Says acclaimed critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh,”Vivek Oberoi is in top form as the antagonist. The intensity, the voice and the makeover gives the term ‘villain’ an all-new meaning in KRRISH-3. Though the actor has portrayed negative characters in several endeavors, you’re sure to see Vivek in a new light here. He gets to portray a layered character that is sinister, brutal and caustic.”
Adds Madhureeta Mukherjee , “Vivek, as a physically disabled anti-hero is menacing as a ‘hellboy’. His lunatic laugh and white-washed make-up make him fearfully fantastic. ”
“Vivek Oberoi as Kaal ensures you won’t ever forget his act.”adds Sarita Tanwar.
Says Vivek Oberoi, “Playing a villain is definitely more fun ,its unpredictable ..it’s an invitation into darkness…Kaal to me was 50 shades of black”.
