The 2nd Annual Women in Leadership Forum Asia Award – Asia’s Leading Women in Hospitalit​y to Dr. Jyotsna Suri

Dr Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson & Managing Director, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group has been honored with the venerated Asia’s Leading Woman in Hospitality Award at the Women in Leadership (WIL) Asia Awards 2012 in recognition of her outstanding performance, initiatives and achievements in the hospitality sector. Her Excellency Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, Wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia presented the award to Dr. Suri yesterday at the awards ceremony held at The Royale Chulan in Kuala Lumpur. The Women in Leadership Asia Awards invite leading businesswomen and organisations from Asia every year to celebrate and recognise the development of professional women in leadership.

 

Dr. Suri has been associated with The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group since its inception but took complete charge in 2006 following the death of her husband and the company’s Founder Chairman, Lalit Suri. Besides holding the reins of one of India’s leading and fastest-growing privately-owned hotel companies with its portfolio of deluxe five-star hotels, Dr Suri is the only Indian member on the International Executive Committee of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), and the Chairperson of the Tourism Committee of the Federation of India Chambers of Commerce. She led the launch of The Great Indian Travel Bazaar, a travel exhibition in Jaipur, five years ago and has been relentlessly working to promote the tourism potential of Jammu and Kashmir. She has been the only woman to be honored with the prestigious World Travel Market Global Award in recognition of her leadership of the Group and promoting tourism. Apart from this, Dr. Suri is passionate about education in India and is a patron of art and culture.

 

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Suri said: “I am deeply honoured to have received the Asia’s Leading Woman in Hospitality Award. With changing times, there are increasing opportunities for women to scale heights in almost every industrial sector. I am glad that Women in Leadership Asia Awards have recognised the achievements and success of prominent businesswomen who have broken new ground in their respective areas of expertise.”
