New Delhi,  Ritu Pande, the connoisseur of fabric and fantasy launched an alluring collection “LADY IN LACE” where Tennis Sensation ‘Sania Mirza’ captured the hearts with her smashing presence on the ramp at the WILLS LIFESTYLE INDIA FASHION WEEK on 10th October 2014. Sania Mirza looked stunning in the new avatar.

Designer Ritu Pande’s latest collection Lady in Lace’ is inspired by the layered nuances and hidden beauty of quintessential Victoriana. The delicacy and gravity of French and Italian laces witnessed a mixed play of layering, patchwork and embroidery. The designer brought alive her unique individual interpretation of drapes to create a nuanced collection of subversive romance. Hand painted splashes of hues added a whimsical spirit, personifying hidden depths beneath the elegant formality of lace.

Urban tones like icy whites to sparkling gold and fresh coral to midnight blue epitomized the story of the ‘Lady in Lace’ who is subtly subversive!

Sania Mirza stole a million hearts by donning a pure crepe, long flowy anarkali in tie dyed gold and ivory with embroidered French gold lace heavily appliquéd. The exquisite outfit added to her charm. “Ritu’s work is very different from her contemporaries, its classy and elegant and you can see a lot of finesse in the designs every designer has their own USP and Ritu’s is her simplicity and classic designs, they are ever green pieces. I especially loved the outfit she designed for me – it’s spectacular, unlike anything I have ever seen. Ritu Pande is one of the country’s iconic designers and it was wonderful to walk for her.” says Sania Mirza.

Speaking on the occasion, Ritu Pande says,’’ It is wonderful to be back and in fact a great honor to be doing the 7th season at WIFW. This platform has very much been like a home for me. It gives great exposure and a serious and creative mix to any designer to express oneself through a collection that reflects pure sense of aesthetics without any constraints.’’

The collection cherishes the admirable integration of chic floaty shift dresses, draped saris, modern and contemporary slim draped pants and dhoti skirts. The designs express a distinctive new style to elevate one’s ensemble by creating a fusion of structured lace with exquisite drapes that retain the chameleon spirit of the lady who has inspired it.

The runway has witnessed many collections of the designer, one better than the other. This was her 7th season at Wills, India’s premier fashion platform. Her enthralling, crisp new appeal has been creating a buzz in the fashion world.

The jewellery worn by Sania Mirza was designed by Jewellery designer ‘Moni Agarwal’.
