Taylor Swifts new album ‘Red’ to be released on Universal this October
“I called it ‘Red’ because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love”
Its seems that international sweetheart Taylor Swift is coming of age as she is all set to launch to her next album which talks about the tumultuous nature of love. After the success of her last album Speak Now, which is one of the only 17 albums in the entire history of music to sell more than 1 million copies in a single week, fans are eager to know what comes next.
“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” the lead single from 6-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift’s forthcoming album, Red, is available online and this week spends its second consecutive week at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 all-format singles chart, which factors in both sales and radio airplay. In its first two weeks of availability, “Never Ever” has sold in excess of 930,000 downloads in the U.S., and made more than 67 million all-format audience impressions at radio. Last week’s sales of 623,000 downloads was the biggest opening-week for a song by a woman in SoundScan history, and the second-biggest debut ever. Worldwide, the single has already reached the #1 position atop the iTunes charts in 32 countries.
As she released the song on a live chat with her fans on Youtube, Swift answered questions about the album and played the single for her fans who tuned in from New York, Alabama, Ohio, Sweden, Brazil and England, and Montreal, Canada. The singer attributes the theme of the song to a ‘lovely ex-boyfriend’ among other events that have transpired in her life in the last two years.
Speaking on the upcoming album she said, “For the last two years, I’ve been working on an album called Red,” Taylor says, “I called it Red because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles. In my mind, when you experience love that’s fast paced and out of control and mixes infatuation, jealousy, frustration, miscommunication, and all of those lovely emotions…in retrospect, it all looks red.”
It seems that Taylor has gone through a dramatic couple of years full of ups and downs with an album full of songs as testimony to it.
The album will be released on Universal later this year and is expected to the singers best yet.
