STYLE AND DESIGN WERE THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE COLLECTIONS BY ARPAN VOHRA AND JATIN VARMA AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2012

ARPAN VOHRA’S LOOK FOR THE COMING SEASON WAS A GREAT BLEND OF ELEGANCE AND STYLE

Mumbai, March 6, 2012: The romantic style of the 1950s and 60s came alive in the collection by Arpan Vohra called “Back to the Hourglass” at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012.

Working around his inspiration which was the hourglass, Arpan brought in the form fitting, body hugging, seductive, sexy, silhouettes with an emphasis on the waistline. The corset made a prominent appearance for many garments giving the creations a sensuous, flirty yet delicate and pretty look.

Colour blocking was cleverly used, while subtle detailing on luxuriously layered chiffon gowns or scintillating pencil skirts and cute minis projected the style of the two eras.

Embellishments were discreet as they were used sparingly for the very feminine Summer/Resort line.

The show opened with a stunning halter worn with embroidered high waist pencil skirt and then Arpan showed his creativity with a colour blocked white and black one shoulder ruffle dress. The stylised tasselled beige dress, the 20s black fringed mini and the sexy black glass bead evening ruffle gown, were all true to the theme of the show.

The black skinny pants with tulle detail at the back gave a new take on design. The moulded bodice maxi with shoulder detail over a body suit, the halter one sleeve print maxi and the form fitting top with skinny pants gave the models a truly form fitted silhouette.

A mention has to be made of the multi coloured abstract design neckpieces which added to the beauty of the creations.

When a woman wants to make that tantalising, flamboyant fashion statement then she will go to Arpan Vohra’s collection “Back to the Hourglass” for those compliments.

JATIN VARMA’S COLLECTION TITLED “GLISTEN – SHINE BY REFLECTION” WAS A DAZZLING OFFERING AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2012

Last season Jatin Varma showed a collection inspired by the Paparazzi that had large doses of glamour.

This time, it was a dazzling show that offered a beautiful feminine collection at Lakmé Fashion Week for the Summer/Resort 2012 season. Jatin known for his sensational evening wear displayed “Glisten- Shine by Reflection” another Red Carpet look that will make an impact during the coming season.

Colours remained subdued with nudes at centre stage, while the sequins work on pastel hues reminded one of the delicate dew and rain drops glistening in the sunlight. Each garment told a beautiful story of style and elegance, as the models glided down the ramp.

Working around structured dresses and gowns, the perfect finish of the creations was highlighted with the laser cut-outs and the matte sequin touches. With just three pastel shades of pale pink, lemon and blue with the finale in deep black, Jatin opened the show with three ultra futuristic creations made from stunning laser cut felt.

Then it was drama of the ultimate Red Carpet type as monokinis were draped with net and silk covers, crystal encrusted mini had the mesh laser cut shell,  gowns floated down with rouched bodices and sequined corset with layered geometric scales was turned magical with flowing side drapes.

The eye catching lemon crimped ruffle and will power gowns were worn with mesh boleros, or a stately cape.

The black section was an ultimate “glamarama” offering, as Jatin sent out the most breathtaking shimmering creations. Gowns and minis were once again covered with the laser cut felt but positioned at strategic points. The final plunge neckline and high front slit creation was the ultra icing on the collection.

Once again Jatin Varma scored a perfect 10 with his spectacular collection called “Glisten – Shine by Reflection”, which will be the first choice of style divas around the world.
