Spotted! Actress Priyanka Bose at Pizza Metro Pizza
Priyanka Bose who plays the female lead in the Italo Spinelli film “Gangor”, was spotted yesterday indulging in some authentic Italian cuisine at Bandra’s recently launched international Neopolitan pizzeria, Pizza Metro Pizza known for their metre long pizzas. She was overheard talking to owners Sam and Arja about the colorful interiors and ambiance while she feasted on some signature creations at the restaurant with her friends recommended by the chef himself, flown down from the south of Italy.
Introducing Independent artist/actor Priyanka Bose who plays the female lead in the Italo Spinelli film “Gangor”, an adaptation of Mahasweta Devi’s short story ‘“Choli ke Peeche”. Hailing from Delhi, Priyanka finished her education in BA honours from Delhi University post which the doors to performing arts opened almost immediately for her. Her training as a dancer from an early age of 6yrs helped get her first performance in an original musical when she was just 16. Her aspirations for being a performing artist sprung up.
“Gangor”, which is a strong female oriented story was released in Italy in March 2011. Gangor premiered at the Rome International Film Festival in 2010, getting her a standing ovation from 1500 hundred in the audience and has been received very well in many of the prestigious film festivals in London,Phillipines etc. . Having proudly bagged the best actress award at a festival in New Jersey and a nomination from New York (New Jersey Independent South Asian Cine Fest, New York Film Festival), Priyanka is on the threshold of recognition in the Indian film circuit with ‘Gangor’ being released soon in India. ‘Gangor” has been screened at the 14th Mumbai Film Festival’ for the Indian film fanatics.
Her next release is another Bengali film, “Shunyo Anko”, directed by the renowned Goutam Ghose. Priyanka Bose plays the lead with Konkona Sen Sharma and the film is slated for a release early next year.
She has also worked in several bollywood films like ‘Johnny Gaddar’ where she starred in a song called “Dhoka” opposite Niel Nitin Mukesh, ‘Guzaarish’ where she featured again in a song “Mil Gayi” with Aishwarya Rai and LSD (Love Sex Dhoka) where she played an opportunistic reality TV editor in the third story to name a few. Currently she is off to her Favourite city (Kolkata) to shoot an international project.
Priyanka owes all her training to theatre and has also made appearances in a lot of music videos and TV commercials. Priyanka has also started a production company with 2 of her friends called PaapiPet Pictures. She and her co producer – Rheyan Joharie and director – Jaydeep Sarkaar just line-produced and creatively put together probably the biggest national advertising campaign in the history of Indian Advertising- The Bharat Nirman project for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, within a few months of the launch of the production company. PaapiPet pictures also create music videos for musicians and Bands they are interested in such as Hipnotribe (Dark and delicious), Kailasa (Kailash Kher) and Mikey Mcleary (Bartender).
Priyanka is dedicated to the Indian film industry and is focused towards doing whatever it takes to contribute in the film making medium. Whether it is being an actress or a producer, both have been equally fulfilling for her so far.
