Fantastic performances by SP Balasubramaniam, Vijay Prakash and Vasundhara Das among others
Chennai, The BIG Tamil Melody Awards, produced and conceptualized by 92.7 BIG FM, Chennai’s No. 1 Melody station and winner of the Golden Mikes Broadcaster of the Year Award, commemorated the incredible success of the Tamil music fraternity by acknowledging the stalwarts in the presence of the crème de la crème of the music and film fraternity, in a splendid ceremony at the Sri Mutha Venkatasubbha Rao concert hall (Lady Andal School). The awards show announced its much awaited winners for the finest talents in music industry for the year 2012.
The BIG Tamil Melody Awards is a unique and exclusive platform that honors artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in Tamil music.
The glittering, star-shimmering event rolled out as star and celebrities walked down the red carpet to celebrate the best in the Tamil Music fraternity. The ceremony, hosted by RJs Balaji, Mutthu and Ophie featured stellar performances by celebrated musicians and Kollywood stars including Vasubdhara Das and SP Balasubramaniam.
In the midst of all the entertainment, the envelopes were opened to reveal the best talents and Award winners for 2012. Winners accepted their prestigious Award with excitement and fervor, as the air was filled with roaring applause and cheers.
A total of 41 awards were presented at this breathtaking awards ceremony under various categories. SP Balasubramaniam picked up the nods for Best Melody Singer; Best Melody Song of the year was “Nee Korinaal Vaanam” for which Sharreth, bagged the best music director awards, Karthik and Shwetha for best singer male and female respectively. Best Melody Duet of the year was the song “Ayyayo Nenju” for which Vetrimaran received the best music director awards, SPB, SPB Charan and Prashanthini for best singer male and female respectively. In addition to this Best Debut Singer Male went to Aalap Raju and the Best Debut Singer Female went to Suzanne. Ghibran received overwhelming applauds for Best Debut Music Director and Niranjan Bharathi for Best Debut Lyricist.
