Siddharth Roy Kapur Make It To Variety’s List Of 500 Influential People In Entertainment
Siddharth Roy Kapur is among the 12 Indian faces in Variety’s list of 500 ‘influential business leaders shaping the global $2 trillion entertainment industry.’
Variety500, according to the publication’s website, ‘reflects the accomplishments of its members over the previous 12 months’. The listed names are selected by the Variety editorial board.
The list also includes actors Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra directors Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, producer Ekta Kapoor, and the Ambani brothers, Punit Goenka, Kishore Lulla, Uday Shankar and Subhash Chandra.
Siddharth Roy Kapur is an eminent film producer, President of The Film and Television Producers Guild of India and former Managing Director of The Walt Disney Company India. After having produced some of the most path breaking movies of the last decade including Taare Zameen Par, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Fashion, Aamir, A Wednesday!, Dev D, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Kaminey, Wake up Sid, Raajneeti, Udaan, Peepli [Live], Welcome to Sajjanpur, No One Killed Jessica, Delhi Belly, Paan Singh Tomar, Shahid, Rowdy Rathore, Barfi!, ABCD, Kai Po Che, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, The Lunchbox and Chennai Express. Siddharth has recently set up his own production house, Roy Kapur Films, to produce movies and digital video content across all scales and genres. Siddharth has been featured on The Economic Times Top 40 Indian Business Leaders Under 40 and The Hollywood Reporter Next Generation Asia Inaugural Class of Young Leaders, amongst numerous other awards for his leadership and achievements.
Siddharth Roy Kapur is the first to sign a partnership deal with a telecom company JIO in India. The association will include exclusive long and short form content genres that RKF will put together as ‘Jio Originals’. He is also producing films under his banned RKF, like Rakesh Sharma biopic, Nitesh Tiwari’s Anu Anty and a film with R.S. Prasanna.
