Sharmaji Namkeen is a very rightly tribute to the departed soul of Shri Rishi Kapoor ji who was a youth icon of his generation and even today when he has virtually bid farewell to the film industry his spirit reflects through the character of Sharmaji. Rishi Kapoor always had a great appetite and relished all the luxuries life had to offer him. And see the irony of his life where he portrays the role of a food lover, a great cook in Sharmaji Namkeen which incidentally also happens to be his last film.
But unfortunately Rishi Kapoor ji could not complete the film and as result for near about 20% of the film we get to see Paresh Rawal who gets into his shoes and does justice to not only the character Rishiji played but also helped in completing a very simple, beautiful and meaningful cinema which is not only Hilarious, Entertaining and Joyful. The film  also sends across a strong message, For All those parents who are on the verge of retirement or are voluntarily retired that life does not end there but begins with a new hope and yearnings.
Rishi Kapoor as Sharmaji comes across as a very endearing guardian and refuses to sit idle and goes about doing things he never imagined irrespective of his children’s insistence on taking it easy. Besides the Culinary Delicacies and the flavour the film offers through some wonderful performances from stalwarts Late Rishi Kapoor,  Paresh Rawal and Juhi Chawla are worth a toast and leaves a good feel factor all around.
The film does go haywire in the climax sequences and does get on your nerves due to some irritating repeated blunders but given the situation you tend to let go and nonetheless enjoy the mad mad mayhem.
#SharmajiNamkeenOnPrime is there for you to catch on Amazon Prime which will start streaming it live from 1st April.
The advantage with the OTT platform is that you virtually get to see the film with your family and friends at your own time and place…. so just go and enjoy this small and simple and lovely cinema which is nothing but a family entertainer at its BEST !!!!!
