SHAMITABH pays tribute to music legend Ilaiyaraaja !
The team of SHAMITABH welcomed guests to an evening with the master himself , celebrating his historical achievement of 1000 movies, 5000 songs and over 3500 blockbuster tracks.
The intimate event that paid tribute to Ilaiyaraaja and his greatest works saw the who’s who of the Indian film and music industry, including Rajnikant, Kamal haasan, Boney Kapoor, Sri Devi, Tabu along with producers Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Shreya Ghosal started the evening by singing Cheeni kum, one of ilaiyaraaja’s compositions . On the occasion said director R.Balki, “Any tribute we pay to ilaiyaraaja sir will not do justice to his contribution to cinema. 1000 films! And 5000 songs. And background score for each and every film. Even these statistics don’t do justice to the role his music has played in the lives of the listeners. He is the definition of music to millions of people. The websters dictionary should add his name to the meaning of music.”
Mr. Amitabh Bachchan who opened the evening with a touching note on the maestro said, “We have always been great admirers of his work the world over. I cannot express in words what he means to the music industry and his contribution to our cinema. I consider him a genius. He knows everything about music. I consider myself fortunate to have worked in movies that had his music.”
The occasion also the marked the launch of the film’s second theatrical trailer as it was well received by everyone present. The team of SHAMITABH also launched the music of the film as Mr.Bachchan took to the stage to sing “Piddly” that is fast trending on the air waves and the social media front .
