AKSAR …. . The album was launched in, The Hilton, Andheri, Mumbai. The evening started with a scintillating Live Performance by Bhupinder and Mitali Singh, followed by the launch of the album by Madhuri Dixit Nene, the evening was attended by Anup Jalota, Talat Aziz, Hariharan, Salim Aarif to name a few.
Once in a while, there comes an album that defines musical genius, honest and a born classic. “AKSAR …” is that album.
A brand new recording, wherein Gulzar Saab has wielded his pen yet again, for AKSAR … providing beautiful lyrics for all the songs. The music has been arranged by none other than Uttam Singh, of Dil Toh Pagal Hai fame, and he strikes a beautiful balance between enchanting music and poignant lyrics.
The album features the unparalleled voices of India’s most multi talented musician, Bhupinder Singh and his equally gifted wife Mitali Singh! Best known for singing immortal jewels like Beeti Na Bitai Raina, Naam Gum Jayega and Ek Akela Iss Shehar Mein, Bhupi, as he is popularly known, and Mitali, are back with AKSAR … to gift us pure musical pleasure.
AKSAR … is the outcome of some of the finest poetry of Gulzar Saab. It consists of different moods of the poet, different phases of thoughts and experiencing different behaviours of life and times. Each song, be it a Ghazal or a Nazm, is a complete story within itself..

All the songs in the album have been finely composed by Bhupinder Singh. The only duet “ Neeli Neeli Ankhiyon Se Jhanke Re Samandar Jhankey ”in the album happened when Amandeep, son of Bhupinder Singh was composing & playing the beautiful rhythm on his Guitar, which inspired Bhupinder to compose it that very moment. Gulzar heard it and wrote – “ Neeli Neeli Ankhiyon Se Jhanke Re Samandar Jhankey Lehron Ke Paon Pe Aaye Aur Jaaye Geeli Geeli Ret Pe Kya Likh Jaaye Kaisi Lakreen Aanken Aanken” – the most beautiful romantic duet song in this album.
“Aisi Maddham Si Bolti Hai Raat” is composed in semi classical style to take you in a different world altogether.
Last Ghazal is real landmark poetry from Gulzar Saab. “Hawaas Ka Jahaan Saath Le Gaya, Wo Sarey Badban Saath Le Gaya ” composed on a very simple tune.
