Saaibaba Telefilms’ quest to unearth Bharat Ki Shaan

It is a quest to find the fresh voice of India, a  young talent who with his mesmerizing voice will steal the nation’s hearts!  Saaibaba Telefilms  brings to you, Bharat ki Shaan, kiski aawaaz banegi desh ki pehchaan, a show that brings to the fore talent from across the length and breadth of the country!

Other than the fact that Bharat Ki Shaan is a musical war between metros and non-metros, the show will also be a colourful one, highlighting the colours of incredible India. Songs, costumes, festivals, festivities and the diverse culture of India in its myriad hues will be on show.

“It is a clear-cut competition between two demographies,” enthuses Gajendra Singh, the man behind Bharat Ki Shaan. “it has a vibrant host in Manoj Tiwari and has Usha Uthup and Ismail Darbar as both the mentors and the judges.”

While Ismail Darbar is the voice of the masses with his song being so massy and touching a chord with every Indian, Usha Uthup is the face of the metropolitan Indian. Manoj Tiwari is still so close to his roots and is as known for his histrionics as he is for his voice. Hence, this trio is bound to make a dent in the music show market.

The first day of shoot saw besides Gajendra Singh, Manoj Tiwari, Ismail Darbar and Usha Uthup, guest judges of the likes of Anuradha Paudwal and Jatin Pandit and Lalit Pandit among others.

Says Singh on why Bharat Ki Shaan is entering its second season, “The first season of Bharat Ki Shaan was extremely popular. But India has so much to offer in terms of unity in diversity. And we wanted to ensure that the unity in diversity of India was aptly reflected in our second season. There is no channel like DD that covers the length and breadth of our nation and hence a competition between the metros and non-metros would be something that audiences would look forward to.

“We want a talented youngster with a voice that can be Bharat Ki Shaan and then train and groom him to compete with the best in the industry. That is our approach and that is our format,” says  the man who can easily be called the Father of musical shows in the country. A pan-India search over 20 cities has resulted in the first set of contestants who will vie for the title. The rest is for the audiences to watch.

Says Ismail Durbar, “reality shows should all be Bharat Ki Shaan. They should go beyond being just reality shows. It is not about participants coming and singing and going. I want them all to be stars in the horizon. That will be the real Bharat Ki Shaan. I pray to God to make the life of each of these children.”

Adds Usha Uthup, “ I am happy to be on Bharat ki Shaan for four reasons. One, it is with the king of musical shows, Gajendra Singh, second it is with Ismail Darbar, third is thatit will  bring talent from all corners of the country and fourth is that it is on Doordarshan.. In, DD audiences, I  still have one of my greatest fan following even today. I am  very happy.”

A 52-episoder, Bharat Ki Shaan goes on air on April 23, and will be on air twice a week. The show begins on April 23 on DD National, (9.30 PM) and is a bi-weekly which will be aired every Monday and Tuesday.
