ROBERT DE NIRO WAS DRAWN TO THE FILM ‘JOY’ SINCE THE START!
Two Time Oscar winner Robert De Niro has been one of the most famous and veteran actors of cinema. From Godfather Part 2 to Raging Bull, Deer Hunter to Silver Linings Playbook, The actor has played a number of versatile roles showcasing a different side to the actor.
In the film ‘Joy’ which tells the tale of self-made real life entrepreneur and inventor of the Miracle Mop, Joy Mangano and the story of the journey towards the success. The film directed by David O Russell is the third collaboration by Robert De Niro and the Director with the actor playing the role of a father in Silver Linings Playbook, a crooked dealer in American Hustler to a father of Joy Mangano in the Movie- Joy.
While talking about his role and what drew him to the real life re-telling of the inventor Joy, Robert De Niro shared that he was immediately interested in the story when the Director approached him for the same and was on board from the start.
Talking about what drew him to the story and his role in particular, he said, “Well, David O Russell was telling me the story in bits and pieces and so on for about a year, I guess. And then finally started sending pages, then the whole script—I think he sent some pages or half of it or something, whatever. And there’s certain directors, they say they’re doing something, you’re going to say you’ll do it, you’ll commit way before the script is written.”
The film based on a true story will be airing on Star Movies Select HD’s True Story property on Wednesday, April 12th at 6:30pm
