As a part of his initiative to revive the Irani Cafes in Mumbai Ritesh Batra’s production company Poetic License with India’s brightest and media shy Casting Directors, Atul Mongia (Queen, Lootera, Shaghai, Titli) and very shy Seher Latif (Lunchbox, Tigers, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel part 1 and 2, Fast and Furious 7, Zero Dark Thirty, Eat Pray Love) on March 27 at Excelsior Cafe in Fort.
Earlier Ritesh Batra’s production company Poetic License did a series of events at different Irani Cafes across the city. The first two sessions were at Koolar Cafe and Kyani.
Quote of Ritesh Batra, “My objective is to reinvent these cafes as cultural spaces to exchange ideas. It’s very heartening to see full house at these events. ”
In his endeavour to promote the Irani cafes Ritesh requested the enthusiastic audience of young and aspiring actors to order eatables or drinks worth 50 rupees from the cafe and come back to these cafes again.
In the interactive session of one hour, Seher and Atul shared their thoughts on the casting process and Ritesh Batra moderated the talk.
