Producer Rajan Shahi to make films after successful twenty years in the TV industry!
The man behind shows like Bidaai, Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Kuuch toh Log Kahege and Amrit Manthan – Rajan Shahi, the founder owner of Directors Kut recently completed two long decades in the industry having directed many shows and producing many since 2008.
Shahi will be also taking the giant step in a short time to announce and unveil his film banner. ” Two decades might seem like a small time but I have seen a lot in the industry. Technically and from the angle of creativity the industry has changed a lot. Now I want to do something which I can be proud of in the coming years. My maternal grandfather late actor Jairaj is an inspiration and I want to take his legacy forward. He always wanted me to make films and that dream of his I would be fulfilling now. “
Rajan also adds, “I love the concept of multi-tasking. When I look at people like Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar I admire their ability to tackle and handle many jobs at a time. Ekta who started with television and now a successful film producer and Karan a successful director, producer, judge and they can juggle into various arenas. They are inspirations to me.” Rajan Shahi commenting on his new look says, “Every few years you have to not only rejuvenate, re-invent your work but also yourself. And in today’s times the producer is not only a financer but is also the face and the image of the company”.
About Rajan Shahi
Rajan Shahi in his early age was associated with the film industry due to his maternal grandfather veteran film actor Mr. P. Jairaj (who received Dada Saheb Phalke Puruskaar in 1982). During school days he assisted Gulzar, Lekh Tandon and Sanjay Khan. In 1994 he joined director/producer Ravi Rai and was actively involved in famous serials like Sailaab and Thoda Hai Thode Ki Jaroorat Hai.
Rajan directed his first independent show “Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi” in 1999 and has directed hit shows like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, Hamare Tumhare, Rishtey, Kareena Kareena, Reth, Saat Phere, Mamtaa, Millee, Virasaat and Saathi Re. He worked as a series director for Ghar Ki Laxmi Betiyaan and Maayaka. In 2007 he opened his production house Director’s Kut and turned producer with Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai on Star Plus which was followed by the success of Yeh Ristha Kya Kehlata Hai which is still going strong. Currently his two shows Amrit Manthan on Life OK and Yeh Ristha Kya Kehlata Hai are on air.
