International superstar, Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s highly anticipated, The Sky Is Pink premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on the 13th of September and was met with a five-minute-long standing ovation as its credits rolled. On the red carpet of the prestigious film festival, the global screen star made heads turn, but above all else, she moved audiences to tears with her latest romance drama.

Having amassed wonderful early reviews, The Sky Is Pink is one of the most special films for Priyanka for many reasons. The global megawatt star had been shooting for the film while she was in the midst of planning her nuptials with the pop star, Nick Jonas.

After foraying into content-driven cinema through her home banner Purple Pebble Pictures, this is the first mainstream Hindi movie that she has produced. Chopra-Jonas has said earlier that being part of the film was a hard juxtaposition of real life for her as she was getting married and the story deals with the loss of a child. Overcoming the conflict of it all, the cinematic powerhouse has made an unprecedented impact by essaying the role of a mother to a teenage daughter suffering from a critical lung condition.

The film that is already winning hearts,  is a story based on the life story of Aisha Chaudhary, who became a motivational speaker after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis at the age of 13. It chronicles the love between a couple from the perspective of their daughter. Priyanka and Farhan Akhtar play the parents to the daughter.

In its essence, this humorous, poignant, and moving piece of cinema is a depiction of the global star’s passion for films and telling stories that matter. The tremendous response it has garnered already marks Priyanka’s early success as a producer and a dynamic actress. Towards the end of the film at TIFF, the superstar welled up with tears, moved by the appreciation for the film.
