Priyanka Chopra conquers new boundaries internationally
~ Her debut TV show ‘Quantico’ to be a part of ABC’s 2015/16-primetime line-up~
~ Priyanka essays the role of Alex Parrish, the lead character on the show~
In an unprecedented move, Priyanka Chopra will make her debut on American TV with the new drama series, ‘Quantico’, which is a part of the ABC Networks new line up of shows for its primetime fall season. Quantico revolves around the story of a diverse group of recruits who arrive at the FBI Quantico Base for training. They are the best, the brightest, and the most vetted, and among them is one suspected of masterminding the biggest attack on New York City since 9/11. In the show, Priyanka plays the lead character Alex Parrish who is a half-Caucasian, half-Indian FBI trainee with a haunting past.
With this, Priyanka becomes the first Indian actor to land a lead role on a major American network primetime TV series. This follows the major, exclusive talent / development deal that Priyanka had signed with ABC Television Studios earlier this year. This is a first of its kind opportunity for Indian talent with a leading US Network.
Speaking on the occasion, Priyanka said, “I’m thrilled with the news that Quantico is going to be a part of ABC’s 2015/16 primetime lineup. As an entertainer and actor, I am constantly looking for new challenges that push the boundaries of my creativity and talent. Not one to be confined to a box, Priyanka is making waves not just in India but internationally too with her acting and music career. Her next release is Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do that releases on June 5th. The music and first look of the film has been garnering rave reviews from audiences, making this one of the most awaited releases of 2015. She is also currently shooting for another one of the years most anticipated films, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s opus Bajirao Mastani. She will also begin shoot of Prakash Jha’s Gangajal 2 in which she plays the central character and on whom the film’s storyline firmly rests. Equal weightage of time and effort have been given to all projects, ensuring that she straddles multiple careers across Continents!
Speaking on her ability to manage both careers, Priyanka said, “I am thankful for the opportunity and feel blessed that I am able to straddle both worlds and continue my work in India with some great films, whilst venturing into something new with this show in the US. I want to do it all and am lucky to work with people who are giving me the opportunity to do just that”.
Quantico stars Jake McLaughlin, Dougray Scott, Yasmine Al Massri, Aunjanue Ellis, Johanna Braddy, Graham Rogers and Tate Ellington. Quantico is written by Josh Safran and produced by Josh Safran, Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper.
Quantico will air this fall on the ABC Network.
