President to grace the closing ceremony of Y B Chavan birth centenary
President Shri Pranab Mukherjee will be the chief guest at the Closing Ceremony of Yashwantrao Chavan birth centenary celebrations on Saturday, March 23. The function will be held at the NCPA, Mumbai. The Governor of Maharashtra, Shri K Sanakranarayanan, Union Cabinet Ministers Shri Sushilkumar Shinde, Shri Sharad Pawar, Shri Praful Patel, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar, Minister of State and South Mumbai MP Milind Deora are prominent among those who will be present.
Former President Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil had inaugurated the birth centenary celebration of Maharashtra’s first chief minister Y B Chavan on March 12 last year, at a memorable function held in front of Gateway of India.
Yashwantrao Chavan, who went on to become the Deputy Prime Minister, is considered the architect of modern Maharashtra. He is remembered for his immense contribution in the field of cooperation, agriculture, rural development and industrial development.
Later in the evening, President Mukherjee will also give away Business Standard Annual Awards for corporate performance and excellence. The Business Standard Awards were instituted in 2000, and over the years, have become benchmark for corporate excellence.
