‘PEOPLE’ presents an interaction with SUSHANT SINGH RAJPUT

He reveals: “I didn’t want to be a star”

(MUMBAI) In an exclusive tete-a-tete, PEOPLE’s latest cover star Sushant Singh Rajput opens up on his
hugely successful debut film Kai Po Che as well as looks back on his decision in 2011 to quit the popular
daily soap Pavitra Rishta.
Relieved that his risk paid off and seemingly poised for big things, the actor with promise says, “I quit TV
because I stopped learning. I didn’t want to be a star. I wanted to enjoy the process of filmmaking and work
on my craft.”

Now part of production house Yashraj’s bunch of new talent, he’s begun shooting for the much- anticipated
Rajkumar Hirani-Aamir Khan movie P.K. “When he (Raju Hirani) asked me if I would be a part of P.K., I
said I’d do it even if I’m just a face in a mob.” As for the experience of working with Aamir, he says, “I’m
waiting to learn from him.”
Acting apart, Sushant has other interests too. Chief among them is ballet, he confides. “I train four times a
week and sometimes seven when I’m free. I would love to flaunt my skills in a film like Black Swan.”
Then there is love of four years, Ankita Lokhande too. What is it that has drawn him to her? “She is a
good human being and at the same time, she is gorgeous,” says the smitten boyfriend, “You can’t ask for
more.”
