Paul W.S. Anderson’s “POMPEII” goes on floor
After directing hits like ‘Resident Evil’, ‘Alien vs. Predator’ and ‘Death Race’, Paul W.S. Anderson’s next
will be “POMPEII” a 3-D action-adventure movie recounting one of history’s greatest disaster stories.
This period film commenced on March 13 in Pompeii, Italy and will shift to Toronto, Canada on March
28. The film will be released by PVR Pictures in India.
Set in 79 A.D., POMPEII stars Kit Harington (HBO’s Game of Thrones, The Seventh Son) as Milo, a slave
turned invincible gladiator who finds himself in a race against time to save his true love Flavia, the
beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant who has been unwillingly betrothed to a corrupt Roman
General. As Mt. Vesuvius erupts in a torrent of blazing lava, Milo must fight his way out of the arena
in order to save his beloved as the once magnificent Pompeii crumbles around him. Starring alongside
Harington is Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events) as Flavia,
and Jared Harris (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, TV’s
Mad Men) as Lucretius, her father.
Lee Batchler & Janet Scott Batchler (Batman Forever) and Michael Robert Johnson (Sherlock Holmes)
and Academy Award winner Julian Fellowes have penned down the screenplay for this epic movie.
Pompeii has garnered immense buzz internationally even before the production of the film began. Going
by the story and the team working on the film the movie is surely going to be a cut above the rest and a
must watch.
