`Music of Vidya Balan starrer Kahaani launched at Kala Ghoda

Collaborating with the on-going Kala Ghoda festival ,Viacom 18 ‘s Kahaani will see its music release at the steps of the iconic Asiatic Library – a location previously graced by performances by music stalwarts.

 

Says director Sujoy Ghosh “It was Viacom 18’s idea to collaborate with the on-going Kala Ghoda festival. I’m honored to release my film’s music in the presence of such talents,“

 

Keeping with the theme of the film, lead protagonist Vidya will also be the cynosure of all eyes as she flags off the event which will commence with a `dhunuchi’ dance, often seen during the Durga Puja festival. Followed by a song by Javed Bhashir.

 

The director and actress will also be present to announce the winner of the “48 hour Music Video “ contest, a platform for budding filmmakers to showcase their work.

 

The title track of the film, the first to be released is already fast gaining popularity. Celebrating the festivities in Kolkatta, the title track of Kahaani `Ami shotti bolchi” is in the truest sense a virtual tour of the City of Joy. Talking about the album says the director “Kolkata loves it! Kahaani is my most revered album because the songs don’t just take the narrative forward, they echo the sentiments of the characters, a city and its people.”

 

Another treat to listeners is Amitabh Bachchan’s rendition of the iconic Rabindra Sangeet which also happens to coincide with Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary. Says Ghosh “In the narrative Vidya runs out of support in search of her missing husband. To convey her hope I needed a commanding voice that you would listen to and believe in and whose better than Mr Bachchan’s”

 

Says Amitabh Bachchan “Vishal (Dadlani) and Shekhar (Ravjiani) have done a most inspiring Ekla Cholo… for the  film Kahaani,grateful to be part of Tagore’s master piece”
