Jugni trailer released

The music of director Shefali Bhushan’s debut film Jugni will release on 15th December, 2015, and the date has already been ear-marked in the social calendar of the music industry. After all, among the names slated to attend the grand launch are lead musicians and ace singers including AR RAHMAN, VISHAL BHARDWAJ, CLINTON CEREJO among others.  Also present will be the cast and crew of the film including the leads, Sugandha Garg and Siddhant Behl.

Jugni marks the debut of Maverick singer, music producer & composer Clinton Cerejo as a music director and in his debut album itself he has managed a coup of sorts by roping in some of the biggest names in the music industry.  The album boasts of a 12-tracks composed by Clinton and brings together acclaimed musicians like AR Rahman, Vishal Bhardwaj, Rahat Fatah Ali Khan, Rekha Bhardwaj amongst others in one album, as they lend their voices to the soulful numbers.

Only one prayer song sung by Rahman, ‘Lakhon Salaam’, has been penned and composed by Kaashif sahib. With such ace musicians involved, the music release is touted to be an important date for music-lovers across.

Shridhar Subramaniam, President India and Middle East adds“Jugni is a film where music at the core and is the soul of the film, and when we heard the album, we were immediately confident of its success. Every song is fresh, unique  and weaves the story and emotion of the film. Vishal  Bharadwaj,  AR Rahman, Clinton Cerejo and the other artists have contributed to an exceptional album that everyone will celebrate.”

Mr. Ashim Mathur, Director Marketing, Dolby Laboratories India said, “We are very excited to work with Jugni team aiming to provide the most immersive storytelling experience with Dolby Atmos. Dolby Atmos brings a natural lifelike audio experience to movie theatres, giving filmmakers the creative freedom to place and move sounds anywhere in the auditorium, including overhead, for added realism and impact. As we move forward, we are committed to offering the Indian audiences the best cinematic experience.”

The film revolves around Vibhavari, a music director, who is working on her first big break in the Hindi film industry. She hits the road in search of music and her journey brings her to a village in Punjab looking for Bibi Saroop, whose voice holds the promise that Vibs is searching for and meets her folk singer son, Mastana, a talented singer himself who winds his way into her heart. Jugni means firefly in Hindi, and is also a popular folk song in Punjab about soul-searching. And director Shefali Bhushan says that the name worked well with her theme about a woman in search of soulful music and finding lots more than just that.

Interestingly, both Shefali and her leading lady Sugandha Garg are musicians themselves. In fact, Shefali has earlier been associated with the online project Beat of India, started in 2000 to popularise traditional Indian music and the director admits that the story grew out of her communications with folk singers from different parts of the country.

Jugni is slated to release on 22nd January 2016
