MTDC observes cleanliness drive fortnight under ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’

Swachaha Bharat Mission at Girgaum Chowpatty

Today morning sharp at 8 am,Hon MD Mr. Paraag Jaiin Nainuttia IAS, Hon Jt MD Mr. Satish Soni, EE Mr. Shailendra Borse, EE Mr. Hemant Jagtap, CAO Mr. Thombre, Er Vinay Wavdhani,Mr. Akhilesh Shukla, Mr. Jawkhedkar, Mr. Ravindra Pawar,Mr. Sushil Pawar, S. R Naik…and 60 more MTDC staff participated in the Girgaum Chowpatty cleanliness Drive under the Swacha Bharat Mission, organised by Swachaha Bharat Mission cell of MTDC HO.The programme was chalked out by MTDC in association with Jai Hind College Tourism dept, Wilson college Management department and BMC. Hon MD administered the Swachhata Shapath to all the students and MTDC staff. After which the end and rocky shore of Girgaum Chowpatty was cleaned by all MTDC staff and students. Hon MD himself led the drive.

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation is observing Swachh Bharat Abhiyanand organizing intensive campaign of Swachha Bharat Mission on various destinations of Maharashtra including religious places, tourism & Heritage sites from 1st December to 15th December 2015.MTDC has installed flex boards at all religious places and heritage sites have cleanliness messages, the entry tickets to national heritage sites are also being re-printed with the cleanliness message on its back side. Also MTDC isorganizing cleanliness drives and rallies with the help of schools, universities and NGOs within the religious places and heritage sites. Biocrux machine is also a part of swachhabharatabhiyan of MTDC.This single cabinet machine will help us to recycle every bottle and keep tourist places green.

ParaagJaiinNainuttia (IAS) Managing Director, MTDC said, “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a dream mission of country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India heads towards the path of transforming it into hygiene and sanitation practicing nation. Maharashtra receives over lakhs of tourists every month. We will ensure all religious place, tourism and heritage sites remain clean. Our participation will also encourage locals and tourists to keep these beautiful sites clean”.

Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, said, “Cleanliness should be part of national character and “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” should be a people’s movement. Maharashtra is blessed with beautiful natural treasures; some are marvellous man created sites. Our state has maximum number of forts and beaches. All these beautiful sites will remain beautiful until we maintain it. Maharashtra attracts maximum tourists from across the globe. In order to promote Eco- Tourism, cleaning and maintaining tourists’ sites is must. As long as each one of us considers cleanliness as a daily routine just like they have food and are determined that they will not litter and also not allow others to do so, the cleanliness movement would be a successful.”

MTDC appeal tourist to join hands for Swachha Bharat Mission to make our Maharashtra clean and green. Swachh Bharat Abhiyanis a national campaign by the Government of India, covering 4,041 statutory cities and towns, to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country. MTDC will also conduct road shows, organise awareness camps and many such activities during this fortnight drive across the state in order to create awareness among the people of Maharashtra. MTDC’s regional office at Mumbai, Aurangabad, Ratnagiri, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik and Amravati are contributing to the cleanliness and awareness program.
