Maharashtra emmerges as leader in implementing Sansad Aadrash Gram Yojana

Selection criteria relaxed for birth places of Dr. Ambedkar and Shahid Bhagat Singh

In Sansad Aadarsh  Gram Yojana  identification of villages has been  achieved to the tune of 86% across India .  However, 106 MP’s are yet to select the villages said Chaudhary  Birender Singh, Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and sanitation.  He was addressing a press conference in Mumbai today.  Taking inspiration from Centre 10,  states including  Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Mizoram, Chhaitsgarh, Haryana, Rajasthan etc. have started their own scheme on the lines of Sansad Aadarsh Gram Yojana, he added.

A review meeting of Maharashtra and Goa on Sansad Aadarsh  Gram Yojana  ( SAGY) was held today to discuss the implementation, progress and suggestions of the Member of Parliament’s.  Mr. Birender Singh appreciated the progress of scheme in Maharashtra which has taken a lead. However, proposals from 106 MP’s  are yet awaited.  10 MP’s from Delhi and 55 MP’s from West Bengal were yet to complete the identification of villages which is expected to be completed  in near future.

The Centre has relaxed the selection criteria as regards hilly,  tribal and difficult area  for the villages ‘Ambavade’ from Maharashtra and ‘Khatakarkalam’ from Punjab which are birth places of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Shahid Bhagat Singh respectively.

SAGY was launched on 11th October , 2024 with a motive of development of selected villages across multiple areas such as agriculture , heath, education, sanitation environment and livelihood. The goal is to developed three Aadarsh Gram Yojana by March 2019  of which one which would be achieved by 2016 under leadership of Member of Parliament.  Thereafter   five such  Adarsh Grams (one per year) would be selected and  developed and  by 2014 with a aim at instilling values such a people participation,  gender inequality spirit of community service cleanliness etc.   Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises , Shri Anant Geete,  , Minister of State  Chemicals and Fertilizers,  Shri Hansraj Ahir,  Maharshtra Minister for Rural Development, Ms. Pankaja Munde were also present on the press conference
