Longinus Fernandes – Aamir Khan helped me understand the industry.
Ace choreography Longinus Fernandes will be seen challenging the contestants in the upcoming episodes of Zee TV’s Dance India Dance Season 6
Zee TV’s popular dance reality show Dance India Dance Season 6 has been keeping the audience glued to their television screens by showcasing exceptional and awe-inspiring dance performances. This week, the contestants gear up for another interesting challenge which will be introduced by Academy Award winner and famous choreographer Longinus Fernandes. Best known for choreographing songs like Slumdog Millionare’s ‘Jai Ho’, O.Saya’ and the super hit dance number ‘Pappu can’t dance saala’, Longinus aka Longi will judge the contestants based on three parameters- Yakeen (belief in dance and oneself), Jazbaat (feelings) and Masala (entertainment).
Kickstarting the episode on a magical note, contestants Daphisha and Paramdeep gave a duet performance and impressed the masters. Up next, from Mini Ke Master Blasters; Piyush, Sonal and Sujan’s gave an energetic performance on ‘Ooh La la, Ooh La La’ for which they won a lot of appreciation. Sujan spoke of how they drew inspiration from Grandmaster Mithun Da’s dance acts from the movies Humse Hai Zamana and Roti Ki Keemat. They also requested Mithun Da to give them a glimpse of his iconic performance and join them on stage. Mithun Da, Masters Marzi and Mudassar sportingly draped sarees and grooved to the song ‘36-24-36’ leaving everyone enthralled.
This week’s episodes also see a fun segment called Papu Can’t Dance’ where the contestants had to dance in a bizarre way without paying attention to the beats. Seeing this, choreographer Longinus Fernandes shared an interesting story about choreographing the song Papu Can’t Dance. He quipped, “When I first choreographed the song, I wanted to change it completely because I was unsure of the steps. I had a lot of apprehensions but Aamir Khan cleared them. He saw the dance steps and told me that the audiences would love this. That day, I understood how the industry works and I would like to thank him for that.”
As the competition continued, dancing stars Sachin and Kalpita’s emotional performance to ‘Tadap Tadap ke’ created a beautiful atmosphere and encouraged master Marzi to rush to the stage and give them a tight hug. Shivam and Alphons from Mudassar Ki Mandali raised the bar and entertainment quotient as they danced to ‘Style mein rehne ka’. The trio Saarang, Mitesh and Sanket paid a tribute to the victims of the recent Elphinstone station stampede through their performance to the beautiful song ‘Humari Adhuri Kahaani’ and left everyone teary-eyed. Contestants also imitated their respective masters and left the audience in splits.
Will the contestants be able to impress challenger Longinus Fernandes? Who will be crowned as the Star Performer of the Day?
