‘Learn, Read and Discuss’ at Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest 2013
A series of interesting workshops and discussions will be held at the Fourth edition of Tata Literature Live! Mumbai LitFest 2013
The 2013 edition of Tata Literature Live, brings to you enriching and exciting workshops and Masterclasse’s for kids and adults alike. The workshops and Masterclasse’s will be held by some of the most prominent names in the world of literature.
On 14th November, the festival will be celebrating Children’s Day by conducting various workshops for kids.
From 12:00 – 1:30 pm a workshop on Storytelling & Art called the Junior Writer’s Bug by Deepa Balsavar, a writer and illustrator of children’s books.
Later there will be a Prose/Poetry through puppets session taken by Shazia Jifri from Kahani Karnival. A session on recycling called ‘KIDS Reduce, recycle and reuse’ will be conducted by authors Bhairavi Parekh, Abid Surti and Shabnam Minwala from Kahani Carnival.
On 15th November: –
Masterclass on writing fiction that is truly Asian will be conducted by Tash Aw, who won the Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Novel (Asia Pacific region) in the year 2005. He has been nominated twice for the Man Booker Prize and is a critically acclaimed author. The session will be called Asian Identities, beyond the Global Novel: A Masterclass on writing fiction that is truly Asian and will be held from 10:30 a.m- 12 p.m.
The world of zines: Limited edition books personally created, crafted and sold by book lovers Presentation will be held by Priya Pereira of Pixie Bks, who has been creating artists’ books since 1993, from 12:30 P.M- 1 P.M
From 2:30 P.M -4:00 pm a Masterclass on the art of Historical Biographies called Step Back in Time will be taken by John Zubrzycki. Zubrzycki is the author of The Last Nizam.
4:30 – 6:00 pm will be time to visit our childhood back. Philip Ardagh, an English children’s author, primarily known for the Eddie Dickens series of books will talk about fantasy writing for kids.
On 16th November
French Embassy & Institut français en Inde Olivier Tallec, a French children’s book author and illustrator, Shifra Horn, the famous Israeli author and Evald Flisar, a Slovene writer, poet, playwright, editor and translator will be available for discussions.
From 4:30 – 6:00 pm there will be a Poetry Workshop called the ‘Green Poems for a Blue Planet’ held by Martin Kiszko a British composer,
On 17th November
11.15 am- 12.00 pm attend a session on ‘Learn your Language’ will be conducted by authors Sampurna Chatterjee and Anita Vachharajani.
From 12:30 -2:00 pm learn how to ‘Create your own Comics’ with Abhijeet Kini, a regular illustrator for Tinkle comics, as well as for several national publications.
2:30 – 4:00 pm attend a Masterclass on Oral History & Culture Writing by Peter Pannke, a writer, musician, producer and organizer of world music events, such as the festivals Parampara!.
The festival will run from November 14 to November 17, 2013 at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai. The festival will be free and on a first-come, first-served basis.
