Temple Wellness in association with Bheegi Basanti Entertainment presents
Prenatal Yoga with Lara Dutta
Under the guidance of Prenatal Yoga expert Tonia Clark
A film by Ipshita Maitra
Saregama, India’s flagship Music and Entertainment company, recently launched its new division Temple Wellness a one stop shop solution to preventive wellness facilities. Continuing the journey a new wellness film will now be launched under this division – Prenatal Yoga with Lara Dutta. The album was launched at Hotel Novotel Mumbai.
As stated by Adarsh Gupta, Business Head, Saregama “Prenatal Yoga is a holistic form of exercise to prepare to-be mothers and ensure a healthy connect with the baby. There was a void in the market for content on this subject and it was a logical step to bring forth the film. We are fortunate to have worked on this film with Lara who really believed in the concept and practiced Prenatal Yoga during her pregnancy.”
Lara has been an avid yoga practitioner for the last 10 years and being pregnant did not stop her from practising yoga. She conceived and developed this prenatal program along with prenatal yoga expert Tonia Clark. This will be her fourth film in the wellness category. Lara says “Yoga has always been an integral part of my life style. The benefits I have reaped from a constant practice have been invaluable to me. Being Pregnant and carrying a child is a blessing unique to woman kind and a mother instinctively wants the best for her child. I am delighted to share this very special routine and meditation practises with other expectant mothers and I’m sure just as I did, they too will thoroughly enjoy their time with their babies on their yoga mats”.
To partner with us in this venture we have LifeCell International, India’s largest and most accredited stem cell bank and Mahindra Retail’s Mom & Me, an apparel store for moms and kids.
Mr Mayur Abhaya, Executive Director, LifeCell international said, ‘We are delighted to partner with Lara Dutta in her effort of developing this Pregnancy Yoga DVD. This is an innovative & unique initiative more personalized to the Indian audience and I’m sure this will certainly help pregnant women experience pregnancy with more confidence. At LifeCell, we have always engaged in such initiatives which will help expectant moms in rejoicing their pregnancy and making it a memorable phase of life’.
About the film:
Prenatal Yoga is a powerful tool for to-be mothers. It caters to the need of a pregnant woman as her body undergoes various changes during this period. In the prenatal program one utilizes easy Asana’s and positions that naturally create more space within the womb for the growing baby.
It encourages mind – body harmony, creates deep relaxation and rejuvenation, and prepares a woman for the process of labour and delivery. Often pregnancy brings with it a period of inactivity and lethargy, not to mention a host of fluctuating emotions… Our program, which has been specially designed for all 3 trimesters, will help you counter this by keeping you fit and active, and more over in a happy positive frame of mind.
Wholistic in its approach, the program run’s you through the relevance and benefits of prenatal yoga, and then takes you through a ‘do–it–along’ 30 minute yoga routine, guided meditation series and labour oriented endurance exercises called keep-ups.
Prenatal Yoga Benefits:
Prenatal yoga increases flexibility, circulation, strength and balance. It prepares a woman for labour and delivery as the Asana’s work on strengthening all the birthing muscles. Through prenatal yoga, the negative effects of the gravitational force applied to organs, tissues and bones are reversed, and the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems which govern our moods get balanced. It also increases blood circulation and works on the lymphatic system. Common pregnancy related problems of swelling, back and leg pain and insomnia can be eased with prenatal yoga, specifically through restorative Asana’s, some types of Pranayama and meditative practices.
Increasing research has begun to show that the baby begins to develop its personality and impressions about the world while still in the womb. There is a direct connection between the mental health of the mother, and that of the developing baby. Through the practice of prenatal yoga, one creates a harmonious, joyful and receptive atmosphere both for mother and child.
