A common man, Kuldip Patwal, a general store shopkeeper, has been wronged by the local minister all his life. Now – according to reports – he has, allegedly, killed the Chief Minister, Varun Chaddha, in broad daylight in front of tens of eyewitnesses. He says he didn’t do it. But, the State will make sure he gets the capital punishment. Chief Minister’s wife Simrat, district attorney is the prosecution lawyer while Parduman Shahpuri, a human right activist lawyer, is appointed as Kuldip’s defense lawyer. Case gets more complicated as the murder trial begins.

Genesis of this film started when I approached the director of the film with my another script which was based on real life case of assassination of a famous political leader. That excited the director but it was very hard hitting, periodic and controversial. So Director had asked me to come up with something fictional on the similar lines but should be contemporary and accessible. I then came up with a roshomon-esque kind of thought about political policies formulated by the politicians which unintentionally affects the common people. This thought was then developed further and this is how this film got made.
