Kay Kay Had First Refused To Do Vodka Diaries
After seeing Kay Kay’s sinister avatar as ACP Ashwini Dixit in the gripping trailer of Vodka Diaries, Kay Kay fans are now eagerly awaiting the release of this Indian thriller to see the versatile actor back on screen.
However, not many would believe that when debutant director Kushal Srivastava approached Kay Kay for Vodka Diaries, he had actually turned it down. Yeah, as shocking as it may sound, the fact is that Kay Kay had rejected the film when it was first offered to him because he was not very happy with the script.
“Kay Kay rejected our script when we first took it to him,” reveals Srivastava. The director further adds, “But Kay Kay was our first and only choice for the character of ACP Ashwini Dixit. In fact, the script was written with him in mind and we only wanted him to play this part. So, we requested him to give us some time to rework on the script and he was kind enough to agree. And within a month we returned to him with a revised script.”
The revised script turned out to be immensely engaging, so much so that when Kay Kay started reading the script, he got so engrossed in it that he just couldn’t keep it down. “He finished the script in 3 hours and called me at midnight saying he would do the film,” says Srivastava.
Vodka Diaries is a suspense thriller that revolves around a series of murders all interlinked with a club called Vodka Diaries, and features Mandira Bedi and Raima Sen apart from Kay Kay in pivotal roles.
The film is produced by Vishal Karkera, Vishal Raj, Kushal Srivastava, Atul Pupneja and Vivek Sudhindra Kulshrestha under the banner K’Scope Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Vishalraj Films & Production Pvt Ltd, and is scheduled to release on 19th January.
