~Two Star Michelin Chef Sergi Arola’s new Restaurant & Bar opens doors on 9th June 2012~

On the occasion, JW Marriott Mumbai hosted a gala party in association with Ms. Chhaya Momaya. The grand launch event was attended by the who’s who from the city’s swish set. Seen enjoying themselves were Akshay Kumar, Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal, Lillette Dubey, Aditi Deshmukh, Gayatri Oberoi, Daboo and Manisha Ratnani, Rashmi Uday Singh, Sanjeev Kapoor, Jatin Kampani, Mamta Dalal, Sheetal Mafatlal, Ash Chandler, Shaan, Rahul Dev, Negi, Namrata Shroff, Shruti Seth and Dhanish Aslam, Aarti and Kailash Surendranath, Simone Singh and Fahad Samar. Also present were Nikhil and Vidushi Mehra, Ranna Gill, Ramola Bachchan and Nina Pillai, who had flown in specially from Delhi to attend the event !

 JW Marriott Mumbai partners with two star Michelin Chef Sergi Arola to bring his sublime Arola brand to India. This chic lifestyle destination will offer guests the exclusive flavours of authentic Catalan cuisine and is slated to be the most anticipated announcement in Mumbai’s gastronomic scene.

 

Since its inception 10 years earlier, JW Marriott Mumbai has set the standard for contemporary luxury, warm hospitality and exclusive dining experiences. Speaking on the launch of the new restaurant, Thomas Guss, General Manager, JW Marriott Mumbai said, “There is a perceptible movement underway with guests now familiar with exotic cuisines; they want preparations that are new and different, authentic in flavour and reminiscent of their last holiday abroad. Chef extraordinaire Sergi Arola is a bold, irrepressible culinary trend-setter. A definitive proponent of Spanish heritage, Sergi will delight guests in Mumbai with gourmet Spanish cuisine. A chef who weaves stories of his homeland into his food, his explosive talent has earned him two Michelin stars and he is the proud owner of six celebrated restaurants around the world bringing the first ever outlet to Asia here in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Sergi Arola said, “India is on the brink of a culinary revolution. I am very excited about bringing the Arola experience to India. The menu will include specially selected mix of all the popular dishes from Arola restaurants all over the world, while also creating signature items for Mumbai. The aim is to surprise the Indian audience with eclectic European cuisine designed especially for their increasingly discerning palate. JW Marriott Mumbai with its location and hospitality philosophy is the perfect fit for an Arola experience”.

Arola will offer a unique culinary concept by the chef called ‘Pica Pica’ – a style of dining where a variety of creative dishes are served on a platter for all to share. The food will be presented on small beautiful ceramic, glass and stone plates. The cocktail couture at interactive the bar will prominently offer over 30 varieties of Gin. Classic Cocktails, Gin and Tonic as well as the Martini, popularly made from Gin, form the signature feature of the beverage list. The inimitable Arola service style and home-produced ingredients will add to the entire experience. Chef Manuel Oliveira Seller – Chef de Cuisine will oversee the restaurant operations that will ensure a seamless blend of the ambience and experience that “Arola” stands for.

A key aspect of the restaurant is contemporary lounge music with distinctive Spanish and Latin influences. Exclusively put together by DJ Lloyd, the music adds to the ambience and is instrumental in transforming the space into a chic lounge as the night wears on.

Cocktail Couture – Gin: Arola, is all set to revolutionize the city’s cocktail culture with Mumbai’s largest selections of Gin in the city.  

Breathtaking View: Arola, offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea through the open terrace

Exclusive: Arola, where the accomplished enjoy the seclusion of three private dining rooms while still being in sync with the rest. The solarium as well as the main restaurant allows you experience a sense of comfort in exclusivity.

Signature preparations: Sample Chef Sergi Arola’s signature preparations which include Patatas bravas (“Bravas de AROLA”, deep fried potatoes filled with a spicy tomato sauce and topped with aioli), Sardinas (Marinated fillets, with “Huevas de Arenque”, tomato and toasted bread), Filet Mignon (Knife cut steak tartar, with a soy sauce and wasabi infusion and crunchy onions), Tomates Maduros (Served as a salad, tossed with extra virgin olive oil, marinated tuna and black Alentejo olives) and Gambas (Prawns sautéed with garlic, chili and parsley).
