Jatin Varma Dazzled the Audience with his Red Carpet Couture Collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Friday, August 3, 2012: “Dark Angels” presented by Jatin Varma at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 had all the right touches of a Red Carpet couture collection. Elegant, sophisticated with dark Gothic touches; the gowns and minis with distinct power shoulders along with chains, felt appliqué, embroidery, brass, beads and sequins work had touches of feathers to create a dramatic impact.

The bold silhouettes were further highlighted by shades of midnight blue, stone, wine, deep purple which added to the geometrics on the creations.

Jatin gave his Gothic theme a modern twist as the stunning outfits were a feat of imaginative design. The silhouettes were lean and figure hugging with the creations almost moulded to the body, as the embellishments snaked up and down the curves of the garments with a distinct muted glitter.

Mini sheaths, clinging gowns, flapper dresses with rows of glittering bead work, slinky maxis with mosaic designs with shine and opaque touches, the fully encrusted sheaths with plunging backs and extended shoulders were sensational. Transparency appeared for yokes and the final sheer with solid touches for the gown was breathtaking.

“Dark Angels” moved away from the soft cuts and showed Jatin Varma’s edgy designing skills that made strong statements with the Gothic touches.

Shradha Murarka of Vizyon Unveiled an Aesthetic Collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

“Enlightened Shadows” was the dramatic title of the collection presented at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Fashion 2012 by Shradha Murarka and Ninon Palisse of Vizyon.

It was haute couture inspired by the romantic, mysterious yet seductive eras and poems of dark and enchanting life. To match the look, the colour palette moved from brown, porcelain and black to midnight blue, turquoise and green. Geometrics and abstract shapes appeared for the silhouettes along with embellishments, which revealed the illusion of insects, beetle shells, butterfly wings and cobbled web motifs that gave an unconventional touch.

The soft feminine fabrics ranged from matte cady and black lamé to georgette, leather and taffeta, that was crafted into stunning cocktail dresses, elegant jackets, skirts, jersey trunks and sweeping Red Carpet gowns. The matching line of leather shoes in blue and black was a perfect complement to the collection.

The lean silhouettes were enhanced by the many cut outs and layered origami detailing on the garments to give a very formal look to the creations.

Creating drama on the catwalk were the cream and brown evening dress with ruffles,  an overlapped cut-out dress, the silk shirt with leather sleeves, the petalled multilayer brown organza dress, the blue leather jacket set with black cut leather skirt and the blue patchwork embroidered dress with multi layers. Two superbly crafted evening gowns ended the show – one in black with a wide layered skirt and embroidered top and the other in burnt gold sheeting with drapes and front slit.

For dramatic haute couture, Shradha Murarka and Ninon Palisse from Vizyon offered mysterious seductive creations with their “Enlightened Shadows” collection.
